The half-zip is the most efficient piece in a gym bag: a warm-up layer, a top layer and a going-out jacket in one, depending on how far the zip is down and what is under it. Here are the three uniforms we actually run.
Lift day: zip to the sternum
Half-zip open over a Sculpt Twist Bra Top for warm-up sets, then collar up and zip to the chin between sets. The draped body of the Sculpt Drape Half-Zip means it never bunches under a barbell pad, and the fold-over collar keeps the neck warm without a scarf.
Walk day: zip to the collarbone, sleeves pushed
Over a long-sleeve crop with biker shorts or flare leggings, zip at the collarbone and push the cuffs to the forearm. Cobalt or sky against black leggings is the cleanest colour formula in the range.
Travel day: fully zipped, collar down
Fully zipped with the collar folded flat reads as a structured jacket, not gym wear – pair with straight training pants and clean sneakers and it carries a train journey and a coffee without looking like you just left the squat rack.
The rules we steal from stylists
- One loud piece per outfit: loud fleece, quiet base – or the reverse.
- Match knit textures: fleece over seamless knit, never fleece over printed nylon.
- Zip position is the fit adjustment: down for shape, up for warmth, half for the photograph.
